Membership Dues and Conference Registration Fees

The conference registration fee is US $285. The conference registration fee for students is US $185. This fee includes a two year ALARA membership and a two year subscription to the journal PALARA. This fee also includes: opening reception, all coffee breaks, and closing banquet. You must be a member of ALARA to participate in the conference.

The conference registration fee should be paid by March 31st, 2014, via check or money order. Early registration is highly encouraged.

Late registration (April 1- May 4 only) is US $290.00; US $200.00 for students.

The conference program will be e-mailed in advance to registered participants.

All forms of payment (checks and money orders) must be made out to ALARA and sent to:

For those who wish to become members of ALARA but do not plan on attending the biennial conference, membership dues are $100. This fee includes a two year ALARA membership and a two year subscription to the journal PALARA.

ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION

ALARA is a dynamic organization of individual scholars working in the field of Afro-Latin American Studies. A majority of the membership are college/university professors trained in Latin American studies (literature, linguistics, sociology, political science, cultural studies, communication studies, history, etc.) whose research and/or teaching interests focus on cultural production and materiality of Africa descendants in North, Central and South America, the Caribbean basin and Equatorial Guinea (West Africa).
